Filmsupply Edit Fest is here! Win $80k in cash and prizes

We’re proud to announce the Filmsupply Edit Fest, a competition built for editors.

When you first set out to be an editor, it probably wasn’t to organize dailies. Or endure long hours. Or face tight deadlines. No, you became an editor because you loved a good story. If you’re anything like us, you love the craft because you know a compelling cut makes all the difference in the world.

This is why we’re excited to announce Edit Fest. It’s a free editing competition for professional editors like you, with more than $80,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs. Download the Starter Kit for full instructions on how to get started. We know what it’s like for your career and your passion to be the same thing. Sure, it’s great, but sometimes your passion gets lost in the day-to-day stresses of the work. We’ve all been there. With Edit Fest, our goal is to give you a chance to find your way back to the beginning and do some work that gets you excited. To be globally recognized by directors, production companies, advertising agencies, and edit houses.

Here’s how it’s going to work.

Over the course of 30 days (September 10th – October 10th), we’re asking you to cut a 60-second spec piece made up of at least 50 percent of footage from Filmsupply. You’ll have full access to Filmsupply’s library of world-class content (as well as access to music from Musicbed and sound effects from Boom Library) to create something for one of three categories: Advertisement, Movie Trailer, or Title Sequence. And, well, that’s about it! The rest is up to you.

With our library of world-class footage you can dream up anything from a sci-fi trailer to a high-end car commercial or a true-crime title sequence. There are endless opportunities—and that’s the entire point.

The point is we’ve built Edit Fest for you to flex your editorial muscles and show off a bit. So, why spend the time to compete? Well, beyond the cash and killer prizes, our panel of judges is made up of some of the biggest names in the industry. And they’re going to be reviewing your work personally. They’ll get a firsthand look at what you can do and, not to mention, we’ve included some personalized feedback from our judges as part of the prize packages.
